The task of writing, editing, sub-editing, proofing, image research, photography, design and reproduction is only half the story in the making of an Opus. When all the pages are approved, the ten week process of proofing, printing, binding and packaging begins. Again, the scale and weight of an Opus makes this a particularly challenging assignment.
Printed pages awaiting finishing.
The greatest personal care and attention is taken in production of every single Opus. Each Opus is hand bound in the finest quality leather. Every page is inter-leafed by hand and stitched into 12-page sections. These sections are then sewn together before the entire book-block is secured to the spine through a combination of hand sewing, meshing and specialist adhesives in order to ensure lasting durability and strength.
The leather on each Opus is hand stitched.
Finally, before each Opus is packaged for shipping, it is placed in a hand-assembled, wood-constructed clamshell presentation case. The clamshell is clad in top-quality silk and provides additional protection for the Opus, as well as an attractive way to store and display this piece of art.
