MLB fans get the first opportunity to see the Opus at FanFest

“Is this for real!” I heard a fan exclaim as they walked towards our stand. Jim, a fan from Milwaukee looked with amazement, standing three foot away from the Opus. His girlfriend, Kim asked if she could turn the pages and promptly slipped on a white cotton glove. They both had a great knowledge of the game over many eras and at first I thought that they were an exception but I soon found out that baseball fans, at least those attending the FanFest possessed vast knowledge not just of their own team but of the game in general.

Every single person who viewed the Opus left with a smile, many congratulated us and said it was the most stunning tribute they had ever seen, some reserving their copy immediately, just to make sure.

One of the highlights for me was when the acclaimed photographer Brad Mangin found the stand and went through the entire Opus page by page. There are many iconic shots taken by Brad in the Opus and he knows first hand how long and arduous a task it was to complete this great undertaking. I was so pleased that he was truly impressed by the Opus, its reproduction of imagery on a giant scale and by the rare, unpublished images that have never before seen the light of day. It looks like the MLB Opus is going to find its own place in baseball’s Hall of Fame!
